Background:
Tevestrin stands with a man, pinning his hands behind his back as his head hangs over a containment pit for all matter of flesh woven monstrosities. "I do not appreciate it when I am insulted in my own business, Mr Stonewall!" He says, calm but still clearly displeased by the man's actions. "I BUILT this company from the ground up, and I expect my guests to have a modicum of respect. If not for me personally, then for what I've achieved here. Dregs brought up to the very cutting edge of technological research." His captive audience was too afraid of his current predicament to respond. "Perhaps if you understand from just how poor of a situation I have raised this company through, you will learn to appreciate and respect it better."
"Six hundred and thirty some-odd years ago, I was born a slave. I was sold off, away from my family, to a household of vampires. I didn't even have a use for them. My blood is toxic to them. I was there because I was 'exotic.' Like I was some sort of songbird. They thought me useless for doing anything other than standing around and looking pretty. But in their hubris, I grew. Smarter stronger, more cunning. The more they felt like they could talk around me, the more I infected themselves with me. It all came to a head when my infection became quite literal, and I poisoned their food. Needless to say, they all blamed each other. I had no place in their expectations of who would kill them, completely forgetting my race's natural abilities.
"With nowhere for the property to go, seeing as everyone in the wills were currently deceased, the slaves were all given a part of the inheritance, as a slight compensation for what all they had been through. The others fled into the shadows like frightened rats with breadcrumbs. I, however, had bigger ambitions by that point. No longer would I allow myself to stand in the shadow of others. My money was invested in learning the art of alchemy. It paid my way for a while, but I didn't want to just survive from it, I wanted to thrive from it. That's when I discovered the art of Flesh Weaving. I'm sure you can put two and two together at this point." He forced Stonewall's head to where he had to look down at the pit below, a veritable cacophony of ungodly howls and yelps coming from masses of flesh and teeth. "Finally, I provided a service others truly wanted. my creations brought those who had deep pockets and shallow morals to my beck and call. From their funds, I was able to build the company that you see today. We provide legitimate projects to legitimate sources as well. I have even offered my expertise in matters of the flesh in an attempt to create prosthetics that the body will more easily accept. However, it is good for a man to have his hobbies, yes? And what's more, is it not good if that hobby also provides its own revenue?"
Mr Stonewall finds himself flung away from the pit, across the steel walkway that they both stood on. "Come, Mr Stonewall. I am a busy man and I'm sure you are, as well." Tevestrin walk right past him, arms crossed behind his back, as if nothing had ever happened, his stride having decided purpose as he walked to the door. I hope that our conversation has cleared up any confusion about respect, and who deserves it. He continued, opening the door at the end of the metal pathway. Mr Stonewall stumbled out, dazed by everything that had happened. In his mind, this wasn't over. He'd get the snake back, no matter what it meant.
Two months later, Tevestrin and Mr Stonewall meet again. This time, standing in court against each other. While Mr Stonewall had a lawyer, Tevestrin had no such provision. He didn't need his lawyers for this, as he could easily get his way out of it.The charges were simple enough. Stonewall had brought up assault charges, leveled at the morally ambiguous businessman. "Your honor, I can easily dispel these accusations. Firstly, does the accuser have any paperwork regarding a visit to the hospital after our meeting?" Required to tell the truth, Stonewall shook his head. "What about video evidence? I assure you that Ouroboros Technologies would have been happy to provide you with non-confidential video files had you asked. It is, after all, in all of our best interests for the justice system to be brought about to its most effective caliber, wouldn't you agree?" Once again, Stonewall could not provide such evidence. "You couldn't even provide the most basic samples of evidence for your case, and yet you STILL brought it to court? I must say, I'm disappointed that you did such a thing."
Before the judge could bring down the gavel, Stonewall objects once again. "The chimera! Surely those monstrosities are against the law!" Tevestrin shakes his head once again. "Your honor, I can dash these allegations right here and now." From his pocket, he produces a small phone-like device from his pocket. after a couple swipes on the screen, he presents the screen to the judge, followed by walking over to the jury and shows them the screen as well. "This was supposed to be a private project, so I don't understand how Mr Stonewall was able to find such information on it, but this is our only instance of chimera in my company at this time." On the screen was a picture of a pig sized creature with unnaturally long ears and extra fur. It was between the sizes of a Flemmish Giant and a pot-bellied pig. "We were hoping for a better name than the one we got, but our focus groups came up with the name 'piggit.' The intent of the creature is to make a creature that can survive in a wide variety of environments, grow quickly, and produce a large amount of meat for places less fortunate. Obviously cross breeding is impossible, and gene splicing would take generations before any real progress could be made on it. By creating several chimera at once, it allows us to quickly get results, to maximize the return on our investors replacement. The only way Mr Stonewall could have even seen them before now would be if he were sticking his nose where it didn't belong." The judge looked at Stonewall sternly, to which Stonewall could only shrink away. "Mr Tevestrin is cleared of all charges. Mr Stonewall, you will serve two years in jail, on one count of trespassing on private property, and one count of false charges." The judge banged his gavel as Stonewall cried out in frustration. "I'm sorry, Mr Stonewall, but you brought it upon yourself." Tevestrin said with what sounded to be sincerity. Nobody had known about the altercation between Stonewall and himself, so no one thought it odd, as Tevestrin had been a responsible, upright citizen so long as anyone else was concerned. Once again, he walked free in the face of the court system,. Unlike most, he didn't even have to bribe anyone to get by scott free.
