The snow fell softly on the streets of New York City, the sun just having set behind the city skyline. Vampire and human alike were making their way through the streets, the soft crunch of the snow beneath their feet sounding through the air. It was a lovely night for a cup of cocoa by the fireside in someone's home to enjoy the quiet and watch the flakes fall through the window.
However, it was also a nice night to be out and about if you were a child, throwing snowballs in the park while watchful guardians and parents stood around in their heavy coats and talked about how things were going in their lives as well as trying to dodge errant balls of fluffy snow from giggling youth. Such merriment let people forget their troubles for the briefest of moments and allowing them to enjoy what life was about.
Cortana walks quietly through the streets, offering a friendly hello to people as she passed them. She seemed like a normal person to anyone walking except that she trailed no master. She was making her way to a popular spot where people liked to put on street performances and also a frozen pond was there to allow people the luxury of ice skating if they chose. She wasn't sure if she would try skating, but she always enjoyed hearing the locals put on their own renditions of plays or books they had read. These people seemed far more real to her than any thespian could ever be, even if they messed up the script it made it that much enjoyable when they were able to continue without faltering.
As she arrived she saw many people watching a couple of jugglers that were standing under the cover of an awning to allow them the freedom from the falling snow and she walks over to watch in quiet fascination as the two worked together to form complicated tricks with knives, tossing back and forth to one another.
