In the wastes outside a small, sleepy town, a Stygian portal appears to break the somber silence. From its black, inky darkness, a red light begins to glow. The light grows in intensity before a form explodes forth from it in a burst of flame and flesh. As the flame clears, the form proves to be not one being, but two. The first is a monster of a man, who easily stands seven and a half feet without the charred horns atop his head. His entire body is blue, his normal greyish shade transformed by endless amounts of burnt scar tissue. On his back, the stubs of what once were wings hang down limply having long lost their usefulness. Long, whitened hair finds itself in braids and slithers down his shoulders, meeting together behind his back. He is Dats'uxa', Betrayer of the first Death Goddess, and banished as an example to those who would defy her will.
The second form is a true beast, walking on all fours like the animal it is. Long, outward facing elbows point to the sky as the creature braces itself from jumping through the portal, a stone crushed under one of its claws. The source of the fire seems to be from its mouth, as smoke still emits from it between hundreds of lacerating teeth. It's tail whips back and forth as the creature attempts do decipher its new surroundings. It bears no real name, but responds to the title that its rider has given it: Fu'a Aasa', or Fire Hound. Despite it's lack of a name, it is very important, for otherwise Dats'uxa' would have still been trapped in the fire realm. The creature provided a loophole, one that the demon could, and obviously had, take advantage of.
The pitted fiend scanned his new surroundings, his eyes filled with a fire that could only be equated to the desire for revenge. "Su...shut ut sha hianan ghu'ftg?"* It looked like nothing. Small, weak, and pathetic; Nothing compared to the fiery plains that he had to endure and survive in for the greater part of nine thousand years. "Wuss sur, sus ir suhrsaus zi'as suhr zasss i'ar sa aus."** He spoke to the creature that he sat upon, bracing himself on its back as it launched itself with its mighty forearms. Its gait resembled that of a gorilla, reaching far ahead of itself and dragging itself forward before landing on its smaller hindquarters and continuing the process. Their target, the small town of which they landed just outside of.

Within the same town, another grey-skinned demon was doing the work of his Goddess. This would, either by chance or machination of Fate, be the same Goddess that banished the aforementioned demon before this demon was even born. Although her domain changed, this demon's loyalty did not. His name was Velgaith, and he had come to be her prophet. With this new purpose, his murderous ways had subsided, and instead he intimidated others, causing the guilty to have nightmares. It was not that difficult for him, as his form was monstrous enough to do so on sight. He looked like a chimera between man and rhinoceros, and had empty sockets where eyes once were. Despite this, he could still zero in on his foes, a result of a combination of a Pit Fiend's natural ability to sense sin in others and a unique adaptation of the Sixth Sense ability, allowing him to easily evaluate the sinfulness of his opponents, as well as how dangerous they are.
He was doing such business in this small, usually lazy town tonight. Some relatively famous illegal gun trafficker was meeting a client at this town. Since it was so small and out of the way, it wouldn't be that hard to shut things up if the got too severe. As for Velgaith's job, it was rather easy. Some men thrown around, guns twisted like pretzels with his own bare hands, and that monster then roaring in your face about the dangers of your sins, that would give most people nightmares.
With his job complete, Velgaith "looked" out towards the desert. In the distance, a sinful haze rapidly approached. As he knew, only two beings could exist. One was the God of Sin himself, Lazarus. This would be hard to believe, as the God would have no doubt simply teleported wherever he wanted to. The other option...well, the other option would be impossible, as he was banished to another plane of existence for his coup against the Gods. Yet, he couldn't shake the feeling that this was, in fact, The Betrayer.
