Background:
Yves grew up on a simple farm with his mother and father back in the dark ages. He learned how to till the land and how to plant the crops and when to harvest. As he got older he found he had a yearning for playing the violin and around 10 or 11 he began to play when he wasn’t working. Being self-taught he listened to other artists as they played and later would copy what he heard on his own instrument. By the time he was 13 he was quite proficient and went to play out in the village square, where people gave him a few coins in appreciation for his talent.
He set out on his own when he was 15, playing in local villages for rent and food. It was where he met his wife to be who happened to come in to listen to the man play his music. He spent many days in that place, watching and waiting for her to return and time and again she did not fail. They soon met outside of the establishment and soon found themselves falling in love. They did marry and had a young son whom Yves loved very much and even taught him the arts as he grew up. Though sadly the days of traquility were short lived as a raid came through the land. He tried to fend off the attackers and managed to last long enough for his family to escape, but he was felled and left for dead on the field as the people moved one. He lay there, feeling the life draining from him, crushed by the fact he would never see his son grow up, when he heard a set of footsteps approach "You.. I saw what you did. And while your sacrifice was not in vain, I ask if you would do anything to be with your family" a voice spoke softly to him just out of his field of vision "yes... I'd do anything to watch my son become a man" he whispered in reply. The footsteps came closer and knelt beside him "I can offer you a different life, if you choose to drink" he cuts his wrist and holds it out letting the blood trickle down "yes... anything"
The years passed by and Yves continued to spend time with his family, but he knew that he couldn't stay or they would be suspicious. He dare not tell them of his deal with the vampire, who had been mobbed shortly after his turning, not wanting them to fear him so. He managed to pass off his condition by hidning under thick layers of clothing and mainly coming out at night but he knew that his family wondered about him more than occationally. So after his son's 13th birthday, he staged his own death by a rockslide as he was travelling to one of the more distant villages to share his music with. And even after this he stayed close and watched his son grow and start a family of his own. He contined to watch the family into the next generation before he finally decided it was time for him to move on. And so he started a new life teaching violin to young students for his living. This continued as long as there were people who played violin but he eventually also branched off to other instruments as the years passed. It seemed natural to keep up with current styles, to remain in the know on how the music was changing over the centuries.
The events came full circle it seemed with Yves once more living a nomadic lifesyle. Never staying in one place too long and living off the money he made through his music. It was all the life he needed and would forever enjoy the look on the peoples faces as they listened to him. It would remind him of his family so long ago... a memory that would never fade until he himself faded from existance.
