Background: The creature known as Baron Samedi was born in 1685, on the island of Hispaniola, in the french colony of Saint-Dominigue. He was born a slave, and lived a slave's life until he was about 25. At this tender age, his Master was murdered, and he was attacked, bitten at the throat, and seemingly left for dead. Only he did not die. He rose a few nights later.
With his new found freedom, he began squatting in his Master's Villa, the corpses of those who died still on the ground. One night he was awoken to a scratching sound, and went on a search for source. He came across a house maid trying to claw her way outside. The girl was obviously dead, given that her lower body was missing. When he approached her, she turned her head and bowed. The way Master would make them bow to him. He continued living in the manor, taking the Master's clothes as his own, and stitching them as they needed repairs.
The locals came to see him as a Loa, a spirit of their religion. They even gave him a name; Baron Samedi. He brought the dead to life, and seemed to prevent death all together. Word of him spread and he became revered.
This went on for years, until he heard of two travelers in his colony. A young man, and a woman. He tracked them, hunted them. He confronted them, and befriended them. He turned them into creatures of the night like himself. They were named Eiolo and Delphine. He loved his Childer. He lived with them for over two hundred years.
When the war broke out, The Baron Samedi was against the vampire take over, and spoke out against it. In one of the early battles, both childer met final death. The trickster watched on as his two friends, the two he thought of as his only family burn and crumble to ashes. The man's dark eyes flashed a bright red as he slaughtered the squad responsible.
The once alcohol and cigar loving trickster became a beacon of rage and fury. Calling forth the undead to tear apart the beings he feels aren't worthy of his blade. He helped found White Rabbit, and is often called the Mad Hatter. More for his rage, than any inherent insanity. Though he does wear a top hat at all times.
