Eurynome
Who do you work for?:
Independent
Theme song:
"Monster" -Imagine Dragons
Physical/Psychological Description:
Eurynome is considered to be overly tall by human standards; he's 6'6 at full height and has an emaciated frame, but he's lean enough that his strength can be deceiving. He has white hair, shimmering violet eyes, and has two pairs of gray wings, one pair smaller than the other and both are light gray. He has many scars adorning his body, in particular one large one over his heart and a maze of scars marring his back which seem to be caused by a whip. His features are far more bird-like most notably the random patches of feathers protruding from his skin on the sides of his face, his biceps and some on his lower forearms. His nails on both his hands and feet act more like talons, and his teeth are serrated perfectly for biting into flesh. Along his body the Sin he consumes can appear as a multitude of swirls and it thrives as if it's a separate entity from its vessel.

Background:
Eurynome was born in the year 1514 in the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania, Romanina. His infancy was rather mysterious as he was gifted with an ebony sword called Demnezeu on the same day he was brought to the world. He remembers not his parents, if he had any, nor does he recall having any siblings. For the most part, the daemon was on his own when it came to growing up and made few friends along the way.
The children he managed to befriend were all part of the tiny church in the town, and he had followed their religion since he had no one else to turn to--perhaps God could set him on a path and give him the unconditional love and faith that he seemed to crave?
His teenage years brought him much hardship. On his seventeeth birthday, the itch on his back side that had been bothering him finally reached an unbearable point and he scratched his back until it became raw, only to cause gray wings to burst out. The pain was excruciating to say the least, and it was a turning point in his life. The wings had in fact been there the entire time, but for what ever reason they had been veiled by his skin until they had matured; moreover, his friends were convinced that he was either an angel or a demon. He couldn't tell because they avoided him, and wouldn't even look at him. His eye color was one thing, but add a set of wings to it and he was considered a "freak".
The next hundred or so years wound him up into the European Renaissance, a time of the arts and sciences. Religion wasn't as highly feared at this time, but Eurynome still prayed to the human God while he lived a solitary life out in the forests of Transylvania, praticing his skills as a swordsman and discovering he had more power to him than he thought; he was able to read the history of objects by touch, fly, and even move at incredible speeds--which he utilized to catch fast moving prey such as deer. The world simply passed him by.
Death became a center focus for him almost immediately during this time. He thanked God for the kills he made, and as if to not insult His creations, devoured the flesh and organs raw. It made him very sick the first few times he had tried it, but after a while he started to be able to actually stomach it. At least..that's how he remembered gaining his first taste of raw flesh.
The main problem occurred about 200 years down the road. He had altered his focus from eating wild animals to eating humans. Dead ones, well, after he killed them that is. Though the individuals he slayed were of bad blood. "Evil" and "sinners" according to his religion; he wanted to rid the world of Sin--but little did he know his own actions caused more harm than good. Many people were horrified by his actions and that was the period of time when he was chased all throughout Europe, called only "Death Follower" because wherever he wound up death would surely follow. He had formed a small cult with others, some were human, some were not. The cult worshipped death primarily and God second, thinking that by eating the organs of the dead they would rid the soul of sin as the spirit passed on into Heaven (or wherever it was that spirits went). Truth was the cult knew nothing about a Death God.
Somewhere along the line, Eurynome became blinded, and subsequently fell into a coma by unknown means. He spent the next 200 years asleep, his body fueled only by the blood and innards he had consumed; when he woke up he became starving. His coma acted like a hibernation in which slowed his aging process. The "New World" as he calls it is vastly different. There are now rules in place which can't be broken. He now tries to recall the other fragments of his past, why he forgot them, and to improve himself by whichever means necessary.
The sin-eater spent time focusing on hidden magics, black magics that weren't supposed to be used; he befriended and swore himself to Riot, a vampire from his first returning days on earth. Things became somewhat complicated with their relationship (they're together...ish) and they still hold a strong loyalty to one another. The pit fiend decided that it was his duty to follow Albert Clot (formerly known as Ace), who Eury not only fell in love with but was also broken by several times, into the current realm. However, in this process Eurynome was devoured by his Sin and left a little more unstable than before.
Currently the fiend thrives in an abandoned church where he plays the role of a priest, devouring people's sins, whether human or not. He holds the habit for being responsible for having people go mysteriously missing (most likely because he ate them).
Because of his age, he is known as an "Old World" creature--unfortunately, he doesn't happen to recall much of his past, and that bothers him. He's also desperate since his awakening to feed. Blood and flesh aren't the only things he can digest, he just prefers them over other food sources. Dead things bring him the most comfort, but if pressed he'll consume someone or something that's still living--particularly if they reek of sin. The sins of others can be consumed via nonlethal means but he finds consuming them after the person has died is more effective.
