Independent
Theme song:
"The Bird and the Worm" - The Used
Physical/Psychological Description:
On the outside Nate looks for the most part to be normal, though if one was to look him in the eyes they could see the madness plaguing his thoughts. He is known for being very unstable, twitching his hands and fidgety like everything around him somehow bothers him. His paleness is only accentuated by his dark brown hair that is oftentimes messy; all along the inner part of his arms is needlework of a mural-esque design he carved of a woman and in the background sections are what look to be scenes of the vampiric signs of the Apocalypse, namely a large flood. Every full moon he undergoes a bloodletting ritual to (what he believes) keep the clan progenitors at bay. He fanatically spreads the word of the True Apocalypse, claiming the ones the humans suffered was not the definite end of the world, that there is to be a (quite literal) Second Wave. Visions often occur to him so he has the habit of keeping a sketch book with him--each vision carries significance and he spends days decoding them. On top of being clinically insane, Nate has also discovered his unnatural love for pain. He will go out of his way to experience new forms of such bodily harm if and when it presents itself. He doesn't see himself as a Malkavian or even a vampire, but some higher being that has been chosen as a seer to warn the Kindred of the Apocalypse.

Background:
Ever since Nate was a young boy he always wanted to serve his country. So when the time arose for him to go to college he did some dabbling here and there but chose against going abroad in the military or Marines. They didn't quite fit his lifestyle, and he wanted a safer route with less chances of getting killed. So he discovered law enforcement and decided he wanted to be a policeman. He went off to schooling to get his degree and once he was licensed he started serving his community as any good cop should, back in his home town of Los Angeles. He worked not only on bringing criminals in, but he also did the nightly Central Bureau patrols for LASD in and around Compton.
A good five years passed and that was when things started to go oddly south for Nate. His behavior started to change, he'd stay overtime more often even after the office had closed. What the unit didn't know was that he had been taking drugs, paying the very criminals he was supposed to be arresting under the table for their substances. But it was more than that. His girlfriend at the time realized he was becoming increasingly agitated about the most petty of things. He didn't know it then but he very quickly developed Schizophreniform, a hasty pre-cursor to schizophrenia.
Everyone else in his unit hadn't the slightest clue he was afflicted with this, but they did find it strange when he started to mumble about a stark white spectre that apparently kept following him around. He even stopped loving his girlfriend and fell in love with the bizarre being even though it frightened him. The drugs seemed to help remove him from reality but only for so long. He attempted to commit suicide several times, once by O.D.ing and when in this state he slit his arms open with a needle, frantically carving the imagery of the spectre woman and the things from his visions there. But the strangest part was when he went out on patrol one night and never returned. There was a case that he shouldn't have been on located in an area he shouldn't have gone to alone (usually he'd take his newbie partner with him). His police car was found parked halfway on the sidewalk and the street, the red and blue overhead lights going and the car door was left open, blood smeared along the steering wheel and sidewalk.
It was some time later that Nathaniel awoke in an area he didn't recognize. A near feral vampire spent the next couple of days playing mind games with Nate to the point where he couldn't take it anymore. When he was embraced it was rough and merciless, and as much as the former cop was frightened he also got a high off of it that he couldn't explain. His Malkavian Sire was very cruel to him after the Embrace, starving Nate of blood for several hours before introducing another newly turned vampire to him. And by introducing it was more like she had been deposited there. His Sire hadn't bothered to contact him or teach him anything about vampiric society; so when presented with the other neonate, he fed on her until she was drained dry of blood.
After that incident he wandered around looking for a way out of the place he had been trapped in for so long, only to come across a Lasombra. She had been looking for his Sire and when she couldn't find him, for unknown reasons she decided to punish Nate by throwing him into the demonic/wraith-like infested Void. He felt like he spent an eternity in there and all it did was fully shatter what was left of his sanity. When he was thrown out of the Void the world looked very different--in more ways than one. His vision had been robbed of color and he was only able to see in grayscale colors. He claims the spectre woman is somehow responsible for this "trickery", and not knowing his is a vampire, he wishes to spread the word of an impending doom on all Kindred.
