Playtime (Adam & God of Knowledge)

[Adam Helviath]

Adam looks over his shoulder slightly before leaving with the little girl. Living in a war torn world, fighting for your life year after year, being a hunter, he felt when he was being watched... most of the time.

[Echo]

Ones and zeros. Absolute. Patterns that repeat. Over and over and over and over again. It was a wonder the god of Science hadn't be consumed by his own madness a second time. In the mixture of his own pre-planned rhythm, Echo felt something shift in it. Something was happening, something big, but what was it? The curious clockwork in the middle of assembling his newest creation looked off in the exact direction the disturbance originated from. "What is being made? No...who is making it?" the god asked himself trying to narrow down what the Pattern reminded him of--hundreds of ideas circulating his mind in mere seconds.

His own interest on the subject proved too much and drew him away from his work. He dropped down a secret escape route into a hidden portal Jakyb had made many years ago only to show up at his creator's side. "Jakyb there is--oh" he halted in his annoucement,his mechanical self looming over the elf, hand placed on his shoulder as if to get his attention; however, Echo was staring directly at Zealous as if captivated by her, and also wondering what Adam was making and why.

[Zealous]

Zealous gathers up the supplies and puts them on the table. She waves to Echo and starts to see what she has. Zealous had lived with them since right after she had left the town where she knew Frides, she was also Adam's inspiration to make the Zealous that lives with Brightblood. "Oh hey Echo! I made you something." She looks under her desk and pulls out a computer, "If it works right it can diagnose any disease with a drop of blood and tell you what the best course of medication is." She smiles hoping that she had pleased her gods.

[Jakyb]

Jakyb reveals himself, sitting on the table. "Fascinating, little one. Truly. I am however, more interested in what the two of you, plan to craft. I'm sure Echo, my love, is also intrigued. Are you not?" He turns his singular golden eye to Echo and rubs his cheek against the hand on his shoulder.

[Adam Helviath]

Adam lifts a brow to the two of them as he felt a little out of place. Granted after long he felt at home with Jakyb, something about him felt like a kindred spirit. Looking back at the god of his choosing he smiles before turning back to Zeal. "We're makin' a cat... fuck if I know why... but we're makin' one..." He continued to work.

[Echo]

Echo stared emptily at the device the Nekomimi introduced him to. "Considering the applications such a machine can do, it has an infinite uses to the biological world..." the god mumbled to himself rapidly in smothered excitement. The rubbing of skin against his cold exterior though had drawn his attention down his arm to Jakyb. "Correct" he responded, his liquid metallic eyes once more observing the duo's work. There was no anger or resentment from Echo that reacted to Adam's ignoring of the Clockwork. "What do you think are the outcomes if this experiment fails, Jakyb?" the god of science asked even though he already knew the answer. They may have been the two oddballs of the gods, and if one thought about it long enough they'd realize the god of knowledge was really only talking to himself.

[Zealous]

Zealous starts to mix ingredients, her fingers working quickly. She looks at Adam and continues to work, "There needs to be no reason to create other than to create." She replies, she shakes her head after staring off for a moment. Zealous had been acting odd lately and this was the first time in a while that she had been out of her room.

[Jakyb]

Jakyb watches Zealous mix the ingredients, then looks to Echo. "Furr everywhere... In the cogs, in the books... Possibly even a monstrous amalgam of cats and kittens and fur, and claws, that will undoubtedly have to be put down, for it's own sake. I know I would not wish to live a tortured life such as that. However, for the sake of progress I would like to see this continue, wouldn't you?" He turns that singular eye to Adam and Zealous once more.

[Adam Helviath]

Adam kind of stared at Echo after it appeared him answering the god was un-noticed. With a shrug he turned back, "Usually creatin' somethin' has a purpose..." Looking her up and down a little he finally spoke while he kept working. "Lonely... ya want somethin' to take care of... Why anyone want's pets..." to himself he chuckles, "or women..." the words were so soft Zeal could not hear but both gods could easily catch it. He kept assisting Zeal.

[Echo]

Echo nodded pleased with Zealous. "She has wonderful insight", he commented with an almost loving-sounding emphasis on "wonderful", then replying to Jakyb, "Now, if you set the abomination of a feline down that will only change the failed biological's location in relation to the experimenters. Did you mean "put down" in some other sense? But...in all honesty the very idea of throwing away past data is absurd. It should be stored, reviewed, and tested again, and again, and again. Poor is the scientist who expects changes and obtains none". The god paused just taking note that Adam had been staring at him occasionally.

The Clockwork took the opportunity to near their instruments, checking them over much like a small child would but he turned his focus on Adam seconds later hearing his murmured explanation. "I don't comprehend what loneliness is. Can you explain further? It impedes efficiency and I do not know why", Echo inquired trying to grasp the concept of the emotions in the chimera's tone and the expression on his face. Echo knew the science behind it, but lacking the ability to feel emotions himself left him curious as to how it felt on something that could.

[Zealous]

Zealous looks up at Echo and giggles shaking her head. She then takes a moment to think, but before saying anything she sends a controlled spark into the "heart" of the Humonculi kitten. It Mews softly perfectly healthy. Zealous smiles before looking sick for a moment. She shakes her head and smiles. "Anyway, um Echo. People who don't like being alone get lonely. It feels to some people like you would if you were no longer able to create."

[Jakyb]

"Not that kind of put down, my love. End it's misery, snuff it's life. Not alter the physical location of said abomination." He smiled as he watched Zealous. He seems to recall watching someone else make a cat a long time ago. He shook himself out of his reverie once more. "My dearest Echo, we learn from failed projects as well as successes. More so, in fact. Little Zealous here is correct. Try to compute the world without hearing your rhythm. Without your pattern. Or the world without magic. Such a lonely place it was." He turns to Adam. "You need a reason to craft? To create? Then why do you do it? If you need to have a reason then the craft is pointless."

[Adam Helviath]

Adam shakes his head at the cat. "To create without purpose is cruel... I create out of joy... I enjoy each creation... I create for a job ta be done..." Looking at the two gods then to Zealous. "To create for no reason is like takin' a wild dog 'n puttin' it in a empty room... The dog can live... maybe break out... but in the end there is no reason to put it there 'n it's sufferin' was done cause someone felt like it..."

Adam kneels down and heals the kitten's deformities with both his hands upon it, magic healing of alchemy pulses through his veins as the runes upon his arms glow. "If ya put the dog there for company, ya fill it with food... water... ya tell it ya love it.. care for it... eventually it knows it's purpose for bein' in the room was to be loved 'n cared for..." His gaze was on the kitten still. "Without reason... ever the gods are pointless...."

[Echo]

Mechanical whirring could be heard as The Machine collected the responses of each of the trio as they spoke, storing it for potential reflection in the future should he need it. If it was one thing he learned from humans over the years was that they were vital to the continuation of his objects. Echo glimpsed over Zealous and then Adam; however, his words were spoken towards Jakyb,"Hm. No Pattern. That would be highly unfortunate for me. I would become ineffective. Void. There would be no necessary reason to keep me, save to improve the next generation of what ever replaces me". An odd inflection sounded in his usually flat, logical tone. They had managed to get him trying to comprehend his own existence and formulate something that hadn't existed yet (namely his replacement). The master Clockwork became mentally stuck in his own loop of thought; having jumbled his own thoughts he cancelled on the idea and took a few seconds to resume his mini speech," There is neutrality. Creation is an innate process in biologicals, but my experience with humans showed me their tenacity. Their adaptability is crucial. With or without reasons objects will be made. Most will crumble, rust, shatter with time. I know my boundaries well, Jakyb. Do you?". It was possibly the one time Echo had verbally bitten the hand that fed him, and even the God of science himself seemed appalled by his own rudeness, like he hadn't meant to say it. This was defined by his fidgeting. He shook his head. "I...think I must return home" he started to say the look on his face mimicking someone who felt off somehow but couldn't express it.

[Zealous]

Zealous looks at him and smiles, "You are important and relevant Echo." She says as he leaves. She was worried, but looked at Jakyb knowing he could handle it. She turns back to the kitten and pets it.
